When you’re considering a personal trainer, it’s critical that you understand the trainer’s philosophy and approach before you invest your time and money.

Here’s what you need to know about me…

I understand that you don’t want to live at the gym and eat steamed carrots for every meal, neither do I, but you’d be surprised how often that’s almost what’s expected of you from other trainers. I make sure that the workouts and nutritional plan I develop for you will work with your lifestyle.

I know that if my advice doesn’t work with your life, it’s useless, so I make sure it does.  It sounds simple, but it’s surprisingly rare.

Being healthy and fit really doesn’t need to be as hard as some trainers make it. There’s no reason that you need to suffer and be miserable, in fact, if you’re miserable than something’s wrong.

I think being healthy includes being happy and energetic, not depressed, hungry, and dreading the next workout. Many of the workouts I create for my clients take well under 40 minutes a session, three times a week. Of course, that can vary depending on your goals, but if your aim is to lose weight, gain muscle, be healthy and feel great, give me those 40 minutes three times a week and I’ll change your life so fast it’ll make your head spin.

It’s part of my job to get to know and understand you. I need to know if your job keeps you at work late or if you’re going through a crisis, or if you hate fish, I need to know as much as I can so I can make you successful.  I need to get personal.  You’d be shocked how many “personal” trainer’s don’t take the time to really get it know you personally.

I’m here to support you. All too often the families and friends of my clients aren’t as supportive as I’d like and sometimes they even try to sabotage the progress of my clients (for a lot of reasons). I can’t always change your spouse, children, boss, or best friend, but it doesn’t matter, because I’M HERE. No matter how tough it may get at times or what may happen, you know someone’s in your corner fighting the battle alongside you. You won’t be fighting alone and that will give you strength to persevere and succeed, even if you haven’t in the past.

I’m here to teach you. Not just what to eat and what exercises to do, but how to keep your motivation high and to integrate fitness into your life. Truth be told, I consider that the most important part of my job, it’s unfortunate that most trainers ignore it completely. Very rarely do I meet clients that have no idea WHAT to do (you know pizza and beer isn’t the answer), my goal it to teach you the HOW as well. Look, the “what” is easy, “how” to keep at it when it’s tough, “how” to fit it into your life, “how” to change how you feel about yourself, that’s what’s tough and where I really make a difference. That’s where I change lives.

Although I’ve trained athletes who compete at a very high level (world record holding), most of my clients are amateur athletes or those looking to lose weight and develop a healthier lifestyle. If you’re not familiar with the equipment at the gym, or what to eat, please don’t let that stop you from taking the first step and getting some assistance. You’ll be surprised how quickly you learn and no matter what you may think, it’s nothing I haven’t seen before.

With this in depth assessment, Coach Rich and you will meet to discuss your current situation and goals.  The goal is for him to understand where you are at from a variety of perspectives including weight, health, and athletics, what challenges you face, and what steps you need to take to overcome them.  You will be led through the Coach’s assessment exercises to gauge your current fitness level and determine your areas of strength, as well of areas of need of improvement.
